Well I have a 1990 lexus ls400 and yesterday I found that my car started to overheat as I was driving home and after letting it be idle overnight I checked my fluids and found that I was completely out of antifreeze and the smoke that appeared smelled like coolant but I refilled the tank with water and coolant the car still was running hot. Extremly all the way to the H. What can I do to check this problem?

Check for cracked head gasket, with engine COLD and radiator full of coolant / water remove radiator cap. Crank engine over and if coolant blows out of radiator cap opening than you most likely have failed head gasket.
