I recently installed a new air intake and I have noticed that if I push past oh. 4500 RPM it coughs or pops. This problem goes away once the engine heats up. What is the cause of this?

ITS WHAT YOU CALL A LEAN MISFIRE , WHEN YOU START MODIFYING FUEL AND AIR COMPONENTS YOU MAY HAVE FALSE READINGS OR ECU MAY SEE FALSE READINGS DUE TO THE MODIFICATION
CAUSING ALL YOUR OPEN LOOP LEAN CONDITION
CONSIDER WARMING UP YOUR ENGINE AND READING YOUR FUEL TRIMS LONG, SHORT AND TOTAL
WATCH YOUR CAT TEMP WHEN YOU HEAR THE POP
NOISE YOU MAY SEE A RISE IN TEMP
LIKE A SPIKE THIS IS A SIGN OF DAMAGE TO YOUR EXHAUST AND EMISSION SYSTEMS

Would re-setting the ECU fix this? If not, what would fix it?

TUNING WOULD REQUIRE AFTERMARKET COMPONENTS AND ALL WARRANTIES WILL BE VOID.
I RECOMMEND PERFORMANCE SHOP OR LOOK ONLINE
FOR UPGRADES FOR YOUR INDUCTION, FEUL AND EXHAUST SYSTEM
