Hi.I have a 94 Lexus ES 300 that started overheating. I took it to the shop and the mechanic said my radiator fan is weak and doesn't even spin faster when the ac is on which is when it will start to overheat. He said that an electric fan is better than hydraulic. I dont know too much about this so I was wondering if it is possible to switch out the hydraulic radiator fan with an electric one? If so where I can purchase a modified one to fit my car? Thanks

This hydraulic system functions just fine but many people don't understand it.

Because of this they just say that replacing it with an electric fan would be easier.

However, an electric fan is not going to be more efficient than this hydraulic fan but it may be cheaper and easier to work on.

Here are some guides that will help with this:

Below you will find the info on this system which will help explain this.

As for getting a fan for this vehicle, you simply just need to remove the fan that is there and then get any fan that has a relay and thermostat so that it comes on when the engine gets to the right temperature.

These are available from most any parts store.

Please let us know what questions you have. If it were me, I would just repair what is on there.
