Never had problems with our car starting. Today, I went through an automatic car wash and realized the sunroof was partially open as water started coming in. Immediately closed it. After I left the car wash, about 2 minutes later, my car shut off. It wouldn't start up, it wanted to but wouldn't stay on. All the lights inside and out work, dashboard, etc. My husband has a tool he hooked up to the car and it gave 2 error messages, P060B and P1343. He thinks something got shorted out. Please help! I love my car and want to fix it. Thank you.

The error codes P060B and P1343 you mentioned are specific to your 2016 Lexus GX 460. Here's a brief explanation of each code:

P060B - Internal Control Module A/D Processing Performance: This code indicates a potential issue with the vehicle's engine control module (ECM) or its ability to process analog-to-digital (A/D) signals accurately. It suggests a malfunction within the ECM's internal circuitry or software.

P1343 - Variable Valve Timing System Malfunction Bank 1: This code points to a problem with the variable valve timing (VVT) system on bank 1 of the engine. It typically relates to issues with the timing control solenoid, camshaft position sensor, or the VVT system's operation.

It's important to note that these codes may not directly indicate the cause of your car shutting off after the car wash incident. However, they could be related to the electrical or sensor abnormalities that occurred due to water exposure.

To address these error codes and resolve the issue with your vehicle, it's recommended to take the following steps:

Clear the Error Codes: Use the diagnostic tool to clear the P060B and P1343 codes. Clearing the codes will reset the ECM's error memory. If the codes reappear after clearing, it suggests an ongoing issue that needs further attention.

Inspect Wiring and Connections: Check the wiring harnesses and connectors associated with the ECM, VVT system, and related sensors. Look for any signs of water damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Repair or replace any damaged components as necessary.

Dry Out Electrical Components: Ensure that all electrical components, including the ECM and sensor connectors, are thoroughly dried out. Moisture or water ingress can cause erratic behavior or malfunctions. Use compressed air, drying agents, or a gentle heat source to aid in the drying process.

I would try a hard system reboot, this guide can help:

So, the mechanic shop replaced a sensor in the car. It was running fine and then my check engine came on and the car won't start again. My husband used his tool to see what error codes would come up and it wasn't showing anything. So, I think we're going to try and get it to our local Lexus dealer for service. Any suggestions?

It sounds like the PCM has gone out. Here is the location of the unit and how to replace it, you can get a preprogrammed unit by searching Google or Ebay. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens. You might want to see if the water got into the PCM or into the electrical connectors.
