Recently changed valve cover gasket and oil and spark plugs. Was fine but recently noticed it was spraying oil from under the passenger side of the engine.

Hi,

leak.
When you say it is spraying, do you actually see where it is spraying from? Also, have you checked the oil filter to make sure it isn't leaking at that point?

I ask because if it is spraying, it's under pressure. That eliminates a general leak from a gasket and leaves a pressurized leak.

If you look at the first three pics below, they provide the directions to locate an oil leak. Pic 4 shows the oil pressure sensor. The sensor can fail and actually leak through the connector, so check that as well. It is just above the starter motor.

Next, check around the oil filter housing to make sure nothing is cracked or if the 0-ring is leaking.

Let me know what you find.

Joe

First off thank you for the reply, Joe. Finally got to get under the car and I found this hose looking piece that seemed broken off or cut. I've enclosed a picture. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. I believe we're talking about the same part; my research has led me to believe that that's the part that's causing my issue. Thanks again looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

What you are seeing is called a wire loom. Electrical wiring goes through it and is protected by it.

To make sure we are on the same page, I copied your pic. I circled the loom which is what I believe you are referring to. Also, I noticed a white wire that appears to be going in it. Is that correct?

Let me know.

Take care,

joe
