2004 Kia Optima My car stopped working while on the road!

i have no clue whats wrong with my car. It started fine, it was going good for about 5 miles. Thats when I came to a stop light. As I was about to go the car started to jerk as if I were in the wrong gear but I wasnt. I was going from second to third. And the car just shut off. And then all service lights came on. Pulled over and tried to start the car 6 or 7 times but to no avail.

Is it starting now? If not what are you missing? Fuel, spark, compression? Any codes?

Well my boyfriend killed the battery when he got home, he left the hazard lights on, so we couldnt even restart it. So we havent tried to restart it since. We are no car buffs, so I cant say anything about what you just asked. But when it went out on him on the road, he went to accelerate then it stuttered and turned itself all the way off, then all the service lights came on. When he pulled to the side of the road, he tried to restart it but it just wouldnt turn over. Thats as detailed as it gets, lol. Thanx for trying to help, I hope you continue to try cause we have no other car, and im 6 monthes pregnant.

Well, I would replace the battery first then check the charging system after that.
