My check engine light came on and the code was P0171. Oxygen Sensor. At the moment I can not afford to purchase this item. What are the consequences that can occur from not replacing the part right away?

Thanks in advance.

P0171 is System too Lean (Bank 1), NOT O2 sensor problem. It cab be caused by several problems, but usually air leak from around the intake manifold. It won't do much damage in the short run, except you'll be using more fuel than usual. But it will in the long run.
