Car will not stay running

My key broke in the ignition. So instead of drilling it out, I just disassembled the whole thing and took the key out. So now I got it to start with the half key but the key light on my dash flashes and it will not stay running for more than two seconds.

The security system is shutting it down. You will need a new key and that will have to be programmed and that is assuming you have not damaged the sensor in the ignition switch that reads the key.
