i h ave alot of battery acid residue buildup on the positive yhe altenatoe is puting out 14.2 volts is the altenator overcharging

Test the internal regulator for proper voltage. Without heavy accessories (headlights, interior lights, blower motor, etc.) The voltage should be approximatly 12.5-14 Volts. Clean the terminals and apply a dielectric to minimize corrosion and maximize conductivity.
