One minute my Jeep was idling fine and now it dies immediately when idling. I can keep the engine running by keeping rpm's up while in neutral, and I can drive the car otherwise with no problem.

I will add here that there is noticeable battery corrosion of late although the car starts fine.

Also, the key slides in and out while the car is running but does not kill the engine. I add this in the interests of discussing a possible short?

Hi:
I would recommend cleaning the battery terminals. They could cause a problem for you.

Has the check engine light come on? Also, have you checked for vacuum leaks?

Let me know.

Joe
