I have a 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Edition. Over the past two weeks, have been having troubles when it is running. After I drive a minute or two, it starts to make noises that sound like it is struggling to keep the car running. When I brake, the noises get worse, and in some cases, the car will die. I have noticed that the battery gauge shows that it fluctuates down significantly. In the cases that it dies, I wait a few minutes and it will start again. I took it to a auto shop to get diagnostics on the battery, starter, and charging which all resulted in good ratings. I also thought it might be cold weather, but it about 35 degrees now and have the same problems. I'm not sure what else to do as I am not very knowledgable about car mechanics. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, any suggestions to finding a good auto mechanic? Thanks.

So it only does this when driving? It sets and idles ok? Can you describe the noises a little better, and you only hear them when applying the brakes? THe amp gauge is probably falling just do to low and falling rpm. Is the check engine light on? Get back to me and I am sure we can help. Curt

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, this has only happened my I am driving, and the car typically will die as I near a stop. As far as I have experienced, my car is fine when it idles. The noise is very hard to describe, it seems that the motor gets louder; it's not really a screeching or whining or something similar. It is just louder, which just makes me think it is working much harder. Also, the check engine light has gone on and off more times than I can remember. I should be able to manage to get an engine diagnostics test at some point in the near future.

Thanks
