Hi everyone, this is my first post on these forums:

I am driving and suddenly the battery gauge goes all the way to the right (to 19) and a red light comes on saying to check my gauges. However the car keeps on driving noramlly. If I turn the engine off it won't turn on again, it is totally dead (as if it didn't have a battery, none of the lights come on). Suddenly everything is back to normal and I can start the engine again, although if I let the RPM to go below 1000 the engine tries to quit. After driving for a while the jeep runs totally normal until the whole thing happens again (so far it has happened twice within one week).

Any help?

Thank you,
Raul.

I checked the battery terminals and cables. They are clean from the last time I replaced the battery (about 5 months ago).
They are also tight.

What else could it be?
