Hello,

I am new to the forum, and I am having a problem with my 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ - 4.0 L6 with 110,000 miles. This has happened twice both on very cold mornings. The Jeep starts right up in the morning and I leave for work. About five to ten minutes into my drive the engine starts missing and then dies. The first time I got a ride to work and returned one hour later started the Jeep and it drove just fine for two weeks until this morning when the same thing happened. I sat there for about ten minutes and tried to start it again and it ran. I got another mile down the road and it happened again. I got a ride to work and returned an hour later and now it's running just fine. It seems to start missing then just die - no check engine light until after it dies. When restarted right away it will run but very roughly then die again with NO check engine light. I thought that I noticed a drop in engine temp right b4 it stalled this am. It was running about normal (above 200) and then I noticed it was down in the 170 range. I would guess that would be normal if the termostat opened in -15 degree weather. I checked the codes thru the odo and it returned a 55 which I guess means no error codes to report.

Please help I am in the dog house with my wife and will have to stop driving my Jeep if this problem can not be remedied.

Thanks,

John Williams

Sound like a fuel pump problem. A fuel pump will not cause the light to come on. Need to test the fuel preasure on car when the problem is happening.
