1999 Other Jeep Models The ignation

Have not had long, with thecoming of cold weather the key (with a chip) just startednot turning in the ignition. Fiursttimeithappened, heatingthekey with a lighterhelped. Today it did not. My truck isat work, thekey would turn to start at all. What is goingon?Have never had such a thing happed. Is a fully loaded 99 Grand Cherokee Infinity. Any suggestions appreciated. Being a sngl workingmom, I really relie on my vehicle.

You surely have it fixed by now, but I will give you my opinion anyway. I believe it is a bad key switch, or if it's on the column, it could be the electrical switch on the lower column sliding on its mounting screws. The chip is to not allow the engine to run, it might crank over, but it wont start.
