Due to a power surging problem, a dealer found oil in my air intake hoses and in the Turbo. The codes indicated a malfunctioning glow plug and EGR valve. The first replaced the Inner Cooler ($625), Hose-Charge Air Cooler ($117), Cooler-Charge Air ($700), Hose-Charge Air Cooler ($174), Plug ($53.85), Wire-Glow Plug ($55.30), Valve ($220), Gasket ($3.35), Gasket-EGR Valve ($2.85), with the following explanation '96357 Turbo under boost & EGR faults 6.0 found EGR assembly stuck closed. Oil in Inner Cooler Split air intake hose. Replaced Inner Cooler, Inlet & Outlet hoses for Inner Cooler and EGR, & #1 Glow Plug' - They had the vehicle for 13 days. I had very poor customer service and I was told that they were not that familiar with the Liberty diesel. But I took it to them because they remained an authorized Chrysler/Jeep dealership.

I picked it up yesterday, and it appeared to run OK. Today, on 3 occasions, as I accelerate when pulling away from a stop sign (or light), there is an instantaneous power loss (which lasts less than a second). It feels like I have punched the break, but I have not. The power immediately returns but the dash lights come on and stay on for just a 1 or 2 seconds. I called the Service Manager, whom I met when picking up the vehicle (and expressing my concerns regarding their lack of knowledge regarding my vehicle and the poor communication/customer service from my Service Rep), and he said it sounds like the ignition switch in the column. I am hard pressed to believe that. The timing is just too weird.

Any ideas of what it could be?

I'm not excited about taking it back to that dealership, but don't want to start from scratch with a new service department. I will do that if recommended.

If he immediatly suggested the ignition switch, there may be alot of problems with them, that is why he said what he did. It does sound like apossible loose connection. Since this never occured before the repairs< wI would let them haev another go at it, but let them know the situation. You may also want to call the Jeep area rep to see if they have anybody close that is actually qualifiled/trained to repair their vehicles. That is 3 years old, it cant be the first one they have seen
