2004 Jeep Laredo wont start

2004 Jeep Laredo 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I changed oput my battery on my jeep and after switching it out my car will NOT strart. I get light, windows work. On the dash though there is a symbol w a circle, a key, and a line threw it. What does that mean? What can I do. Should this have happened while switching out an old battery for a new one?

Something has triggered the security system. You will most likely need to take it to a dealer where they have the proper equipment to check and repair the problem.

If you have a different key, try it first. However, chances are it won't work either.
