Number 3 cylinder not firing

1981 jeep CJ7 with a 1998 jeep grand cherokee engine, straight 6 6 cylinder replaced the carburator, fan, waterpump, clutch, fuelpump, fuel filter, plugs, plugwires, ran vehicle hot replaced with the 1998 engine ran hot again replaced the head gasket, the number 3 cylinder not firing. Runs rough when cold but runs like it is supposed to when it gets warm we have been told to check everything and we have but we still have this problem please hellp my mechanic told me it would not hurt to drive the car like it is can you please advise

I take it that when you say it runs fine when warm that then the #3 is firing. Correct? You taked about it running hot, so is that part fixed with the head gasket replacement? Remember, the mechanic gets to see, touch, smell, hear, the car, we get your information and that is it. Help us help you!
