I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo 6-cyl 4wd with 89000 miles on it. The oil pressure has been 40 - 60 for the life of the vehicle, and all of a sudden it runs at higher pressure. It idles 40 - 50, and goes as high as 75 at higher speeds. I have recently had to replace the head gasket, but still have this issue.

Could be stuck pressure relief on the oil pump. Check the filter for bulging.

44.00 at Napa.

20 minutes to get the stupid red pin plastic piece out securing the wiring to the unit. (It pulls from the bottom).

2 minutes to remove and replace.

Problem solved.
