Hi,

I have a 1995 jeep cherokee sport w/ 217k miles, automatic. I need to find the wiring diagram for the headlights.

My head light switch is not working and does not turn on the head lights. Also, the highbeam switch won't stay on High beams. The result is I have no head lights.

Is there a wiring diagram I can download or could it maybe be a fuse issue?

Thanks in advance,

Milt

Hello,

Here are the headlight wiring diagrams for both DRL and non DRL headlight systems with a guide to show you how to test the wiring.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Electrical problem
1994 Jeep Cherokee Manual

My headlights have recently stopped working, I have all of my marker lights, my turn signals, and my backup lights. I have checked and the fuse is not blown, that I could see. I would deeply appreciate it if you could get back to me as soon as possible.

Circuit breakers provide a similar protection to fuses. Unlike fuses most circuit breakers only have to be reset, and not replaced. Circuit breakers are used only in models equipped with power windows, and are located underneath the front seat. Check to see if you have this. If you do, reset it and post your results.

Thanks for the help. I found it was a intermittent problem with my headlight switch located on the dash. Replaced it and also checked the plugs for the lamps and the wiring harness, all is working well. Again thanks for your input

Lights work except high beam on passenger. I get no continunity at the high beam harness plug on Passenger side. Low beam works. Where does the harness run from the drivers side to the Passenger side? Are there any plugs to check along the way? Are there any common problems for this particular malfunction?
Thank you.

Is your vehicle equipped with Daytime Running Lights?
Have you checked/tested the bulb?

No daytime lights and yes, the bulbs work on the drivers side. There are two red wires in the high beam side of the plug on the drivers side. One apparently goes to the Pass. Side which only has one red wire into the highbeam portion of the plug. No power or continuity to the pass. Side red wire. Apparently there is a break between the Driver and passenger side. The wires disappear into a loom and I am wondering if the is a plug to check.

Attached are the schematics. Passenger side (right) has the Red/Orange wire running from between the two headlights.

When high beam is turned on and you do not have battery voltage at this wire, it means a break in between.

Got it, Thanks. Do you know where the wire runs? I see where it ends up but I don't know where it physically goes. Is there a plug some where that could be compromised?

I could not find any information on connectors between the two and wiring between headlights usually come as a single harness which runs across the radiator to the other side. Most wires would break at the ends, meaing the break should be near the plugs for the bulbs. Tug at the wires and note if any parts seems give way/lenghtens and that should indicates a break. Wiggling the wires might help to diagnose which area is faulty.

Good ideas. Thank you. When I solve it, I'll report back to you. The harness, BTW, runs back to the firewall and across and up to the battery area (Pass side)
Thanks again
Cordially,
Gary

1990 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 215,000miles.

I have looked and searched everywhere for a headlight switch for my 90 cherokee. It seems that these parts are not being made any more. If anyone knows where to find my jeep headlight switch, besides a junkyard, please share. Thanks

If there are any connections, they should be visible along the harness. Look out for signs of possible damage due to abrasions etc.

Good luck.

I had my lightswitch go on my 95 GC last year. Mine is made in Canada and the lightswitch is in fact wired differently than the American ones. It took a little re wiring, but now I have constant low beams on and no running lights. I got mine from the dealer
