Usually when more than 1 system is out, the body control module is to blame.

Using my own code scanner, I am getting repeated engine light code P0432 which is "Main Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank2)". This first came on last Fall. I erased code and then it came back this winter and now has continued to return after erasing several times.

My question is what does this mean and what repair options do I have, new ECU?

Thanks
John

It means the 02 sensors are picking up a problem with the emissions from the converter. Usually the converter is either clogging, or the bed has started to break up, You need a new cat!

What does the ECM control on this vehicle other than the engine? About a year ago my remote door locks began partially fuctioning so I took it to my local dealer for service. They told me the "computer" is malfunctioning and it would cost $380 to repair. I declined and have lived with it. Now, the heater works, but the blower motor only sometimes works. Does the ECM control these things? I can't find any thing that references another "computer" onboard.

Ok they be related or not depends. The computer they are refering to is the BCM (body control module) not the ECM. Now the bcm does have control of both items. Now I would like to know about the blower motor. How does it work sometimes. Does it just not work at all sometimes or does it only work on some speeds? Do you have a digital multi meter if needed? Get back to me and we will take it from there.

The blower motor either doesn't work at all or it works at all speeds. I do have access to a DVM.

Ok then this will probably be the BCM as this controls the power to both. I do need to know if this is a Grand Cherokee or not as this does change the wiring and what does what.

The BCM is located on the left side of the dash attached to the junction (fuse) box.
