The oil pressure gauge on my jeep is reading zero, and the check gauges light is on. About a year or two back as I was driving the oil pressure gauge would suddenly drop and the light would pop on as I was driving. This happened only a few times and I really didn't look into it. Is there any way I can check that the gauge or connections to the gauge are functioning properly without spending alot of money? Thanks.

Hi:
When the pressure drops to 0, do you hear any knocking or ticking from the engine? If not, the oil sending unit most lilkely needs replaced. It's not an expensive part (less than 20 bucks) and all you need to do is locate it (near the oil filter), unplug it, unscrew it and replace it, and reverse the sequence.

Let me know if this helps.

Joe
