Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Jeep Cherokee 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles

jeep want start I ran a wire from positive cable to harness of fuel pump and the pump came on but the trk still did not start but when in on position I cant here pump on and my check gauges light is staying on could it still be the fuel pump

If the fuel pump could run but not produce enough pressure. If the check engine light is on, something tells me there is a sensor problem. Have you checked to see if you are getting spark? Also, here is a how to video to watch. It explains how to check for fuel pressure.

Keep in mind, if the check engine light is on, there is a code in the computer that will tell you the problem, but you will need a scanner to check what the code is. Most parts stores will scan for free, but since the vehicle doesn't run, you may need to see if you can rent one.
