1999 Jeep Cherokee Check engine light

My check engine light came on and my car started lightly shaking, I felt vibration. I haven't had an oil change in. Hm. Maybe 9months or so (perhaps more) could this be the problem? Other than the light coming on, I have not had any problems.

You have an engine management system problem you need to get the computer scanned for code/s -Autozone provide this service for free this is your starting point finding out what's causing the CEL to come On.
