1997 Jeep Cherokee Oil Pressure

I recently noticed on my 97 Jeep Cherokee with 15k original miles that the oil pressure seems to drop and stay low. Occasionally the gauge is right in the middle where it should be but at other times it is really low, just one bar above 0. I just got an oil change with the recommended oil/filter. Any suggestions?

Try using a mechanical guage with the correct pipe fitting. This will show exactly what the oil pressure is. Most likely the oil pressure sending unit might be bad, however, a bad ground or slosh panel (circuit board on the back of the instrument panel) might need replacement.
