Hi
i have a 1979 series 2 XJ6. It stopped running on highway. It was running fine until then. Checked fuel pressure 10psi and replaced fuel filters. Electric fuel pumps working OK. Checked spark and it appears weak and has been running rich. Ie black plugs not oily. Compression 125 psi on all cylinders. Ignition is electronic no points. Could it be weak spark from leads needing replacement or, coil or plugs? Checking plugs which are wet after trying to turn over engine which is very close to starting but then floods. Thanks for any info. Steve

When you check spark at a plug wire, is it long 1/2 to 3/4 inch and blue, or short and orange? If spark is weak it may the coil or coil amplifier. Bad wires can be a possibility but it should miss under load. You mentioned fuel pressure was at 10 psi. At key on position, you should have around 40 psi and engine running, about 30 to 35 psi. Fuel pressure regulator bad? With engine turned off, the hold pressure should be around 20 psi.
