1990 xj6 Jag - stopped running. Found water in the fuel tank - removed all fuel. Replaced fuel pump which was stuck (rusted). Car cranks, I know that fuel is being delivered up to the injectors (rails) but will not start.

When I spray with starting fluid - it seems to start for a second or two, then won't continue to start.

Any suggestions?

You need to find out what's missing to keep the car from starting. Ie, spark or injector pulse and concentrate on that. I f you have niether, replace the crankshaft position sensor.
