1987 Jaguar xj6, 85000miles no power, I put a compression gauge in each spark plug socket and read 90psi accross all 6cylinders. Is this to low? Do you know what the compression should be or where can I find specs online for free? This is my first project car I'm pretty excited.I picked it up at an auction the body is in great shape. The car starts right up. Just no power.I'm going to replace the whole muffler system the cat-converter is suspect in power loss and system is a mess anyhow. I sure would appreciate any help or advice you could offer.

90 across the board is in the mid range and acceptable. The best news is that they are all pretty even so the engine is wearing uniformly.

I would suggest that you get the exhaust work you mention taken care of and see if that helps with the problem. There are other things that cause a reduction in power, such as plug wires, head gasket problems, etc. But I would take one step at a time. Should be a fun project. Pickup a maintenance manual for the car. Best money spent on the car.
