Engine Mechanical problem 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 76,592 miles

this morning my x type 2.5 started, but when I turned it off for approx 5 minutes it would not restart. It took several attempts after which it started, but with the message centre reflected this message,"GearBox Fault - which it states ...It is likely the driver will expericene a degradation of th gearbox operation...

What is pray tell is the problem...? I was able to drive it home.

Your assistance is appreciated.
thx

It sounds like you have an input or output shaft speed sensor that is out causing the transmission to have limited operation. To confirm the problem let's run the codes to see what comes up. This guide will help you. https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing Here is a factory bulletin as well.

Your going to have to have to have the computer scanned for codes thats your first step andlet me know the exact code numbers not code descriptions? You can try a diyer scan but might need a more advanced scan tool to read them.
