I am making a modification to my car and I am wondering if power is sent to unused wires. In my vehicle, there is an upgrade to have a compass, but mine does not have it. Upon removing the panel where the control buttons would be I found the wire. I am wondering if the power is still being sent to that plug even though I don't have the compass feature.

Hello,

More than likely it is. A simple way to find out would to measure it with a multi-meter with your vehicle running. You might want to turn your headlights on as well, as I suspect this to be a connector for a light for the compass. I have included a link below that will explain how to use a multi-meter if you are unfamiliar with how to use one below.

Please go through this guide and get back to us with what you are able to find out.

Thanks,
