I’m installing a 5.3 rebuilt engine in my truck. When attaching the engine to transmission what is the torque or anything else that I need to do? I’ve seen from doing research some say there is supposed to be a certain gap between the engine and transmission at the bottom of transmission. Others say just torque them to 35-foot pounds.

My second question is the engine has been bored out 020. I know that’s not much. Do you think I’ll need a tune to adjust fuel and air because of it being bored?

The last question is, if I put a mild cam better than stock will I have to get it tuned for fuel and air?

I would make sure the torque converter is installed completely so you don't damage the transmission front pump. Check out these two videos to help you so what I am talking about:

This video is a complete install, but it has some great info on how to align the engine and transmission:

Next, the .020 over will not affect anything.

Finally, I would leave the stock camshaft, an aftermarket cam will make it run worse if you don't have added compression to back it up. Let me know if you need more help.

Okay, thanks. I’ll keep stock cam and I’m in process of removing old engine and once I get it in, I’ll update here.

Thanks
