1997 Infiniti Q45 starts, won't go

We recently put in a new battery. After being away for 3 weeks, the car starts but cuts out. The security light stays on. AAA & mechanic say it needs to be re-programmed by Infiniti dealership -- a 40-mile tow away.
Is there no other way to solve this problem?

Hi, try turning the key to the on position for fifteen minutes, the security light should go off. The idle problem you may need to drive it for a little while so the computer can relearn.
