In book it states Malfunction indicator Lamp

In the manual it states take to Toyota dealer. You know they will take me for all I have. I am a 71 year old single lady.

How bad could a Malfunction indicator Lamp be?

Hi, it was the Malfuntion indicator lamp, took it this am, they explained it all to me, turned it off. Told me if it blinks, bring it in right away. I had read that they do that, and 88% of the time turning it off works. Thanks anyway. All fixed.

Sounds like it was your check engine light that came on. They usually come on for a reason and don't just fix themselves after there turned off. Did they mention what codes were set?

No, but told me if it blinks, to bring it in. Blinking means a problem I believe he said a valve. But I could be wrong. But a blinking light has to be taken care of right away.

The light on period there is a problem somewhere.A blinking light means you have a bad engine misfire and it could damage the catalyst.

NUTHER GUY!

THIS TIME WRITE DOWN THE "EXACT" CODE NUMBERS, SO THAT YOU MIGHT POST 'EM TO US

WE TOO, DO THIS STUFF FOR FREE

PERSONALLY, I TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM ANY STEALERSHIP IF POSSIBLE!

THERE ARE MANY REASONS THE LIGHT COULD COME ON FOR (LIKE OVER A HUNDRED!)

BUT

THERE IS ONLY ONE LIGHT!

IT COULD BE AS SIMPLE AS ADDING A FUEL ADDITIVE OR REPLACING A GAS CAP WITH A BAD SEAL

OR IT COULD BE A MAJOR ENGINE TYPE PROBLEM.

WITH A CODE NUMBER, WE MIGHT STEER YOU TOWARDS A GOOD/ PRACTICAL SOLUTION

MOST POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORES WILL ALSO SCAN YOUR CAR'S CODES FOR FREE! (NOT FIX YOUR CAR) THIS MIGHT ELIMINATE YOU FROM A LONG WAIT OR LEAVING YOUR VEHICLE AT A DEALER AND STILL GETTING YOU A FAST DIAGNOSIS

THE MEDIC

I would never take my 1996 Camry with Fifty Two Thousand miles on it to the dealer. They screwed me once on it. I bought the car new. I will find out the numbers. I have the flu, and I am not going anywhere for a few days. I will get the code. I won't let this go, I also read about the gas cap. I have know this place I took the car for over 15 years. He is know in our area for being honest, and trustworthy. All the old timers take their cars there. I trust him. I also appreciate all the info from everyone. I just can't do anything for a few days. Thank you all for all the information. I have learned a lot. Thank you
