Idling high and transmission not shifting gears

Every time I drive my truck in the snow something happens where the idling goes wrong. I was driving on highway and hit a lot of slush after that it wouldn't idle down even if I let my foot off the pedal it still idles up high and then will not change gears. What could it be?

Hi,

This could be several things. Is the check engine light staying on when the engine is running? If it is, you should scan the computer to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes that will help. Here is a video showing how it's done:

I realize most people don't own a scanner, but most parts stores will do it free of charge. If the light is staying on, have that done and let me know what codes are found.
