Hi,

Is the check engine light staying on or flashing while the engine is running? If it is, I would start by having the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes.

If you don't have a scan tool, oftentimes a parts store will check it free of charge.

Next, the idea of a delayed start leads me to think of a possible fuel pressure issue. Have you checked anything related to the fuel system? If not, that is something other to consider. You will need a fuel pressure gauge to check, but most parts stores will lend one to you.
