RPM at idle are always at 0 and I can feel the engine struggling sometimes. No warning lights or anything and it has been like that since I bought it.
New transmission at 35,000 miles and lifter problems so I rebuilt the engine at 48,000. But the RPMs still the same not a 100 or 200, needle is at 0 when idle.

If the engine is running but the dash reads zero, does it do anything when you rev it? The problem sounds like a failed stepper drive for the tachometer, or it has an ignition issue, so the tachometer signal is wrong. I would go over the wiring and in particular the ground strap that runs from the back of the engine to the frame. They like to fail and you get a lot of strange things when that happens.
