I had a tune up and oil change done on it two weeks ago. Ever since then it it ran different. When I bought the parts for the tune up, they tried to sell me the wrong parts. They wanted to sell me tube things instead of wires. I think they might have gave me the wrong filter. Any way yesterday, I was driving it and the it started smoking under the hood and from behind it. It was dumping oil all around the oil filter. So I went and got a new oil filter for it. There was oil all under my truck from the front to the back. It doesn't seem to be leaking now. However, when I took it for a test drive. It started smoking again under the hood. So I pulled over. There was no oil on the ground. But when I pulled the dip stick it burned me the oil was so hot. The engine was extremely hot to. But it didn't show the temperature gauge that it was hot. It only went no more than 3 blocks when it got that hot.

Okay. Couple things. The Mopar (OEM) filter part number is 5281090AB so you can cross reference the one you go to see if it is the same.

Next, the leaking oil is most likely the cause of the smoking at this point. When it leaked oil it gets all over the engine and other components and then when the engine gets hot it burns it off. The smoking will stop once it burns it off but I would not wait for this because if there is enough there, it could ignite. This needs to be cleaned off using a shop solve cleaner. This is a spray cleaner and is very easy to clean off oil with.

As for the engine getting hot, this is normal. If the coolant temp gauge did not show it was overheating, the engine oil will be hot enough to burn you as will the engine itself. As long as the oil is at the correct level, and you clean the engine off, you should be good to go.
