I recommended a 2015 Mazda 6 with the i Grand touring trim to a friend of mine in Latin America. He says that he likes the vehicle and is considering importing one from the U.S. with the Technology package. But he says that the mechanics in his country may have difficulty maintaining the i-eloop technology in the vehicle. He likes the additional safety features in the Technology package, but wants to know if there is a way to disconnect/disable the i-eloop technology in the vehicle. He's concerned his mechanic might get electrocuted messing with it! Does an easy way exist to do this? Or is it not possible? Thanks. Here is a link that describes the technology in further detail. It's a technology to help reduce fuel consumption (1-2 mpg). https://rts.i-car.com/collision-repair-news/mazda-i-eloop-overview.html

Sorry, there is no way to disable that system without disabling the entire vehicle as the E-Loop is not only part of the braking system but part of the charging system for the vehicle. Turning it off would also shut down the vehicles electrical system. It's not a real safety issue though as you wouldn't be near the system for normal maintenance items, and if the system does need service the information is in the material the mechanic can access on how to safely work on it.
