2006 Hyundai Sonata Field Coil has burned out twice

2006 Hyundai Sonata

The field coil on the AC Compressor has now burned out twice and the second time it was only about an hour or two (15-20 miles) after it was replaced. What could cause the Field Coil to continually burn out like this?

Thank you for the donation.

For the coil to fail the first time, it could be the age and usage.

For it to fail after a short while, possible causes are :

1. Improper installation.
2. Quality. It it an OEM coil?
3. Shorting. Check if the clutch housing is brushing against the coil due to a misaligned pulley and/or bearings.
4. Specifications. Was the parts replaced correct and of the recommended specifications? If the specification is lower than required, the coil would overheat and burn off quickly.
