Engine Performance problem
2002 Hyundai Sonata 4 cyl Automatic 120000 miles

My car has been misfiring when its in gear I had all the spark plugs & wires also a tune up done on it & it still did it, so I had the timing belt changed, but it is still doing it. The misfire gets worse with the ac on & now the mechanic wants me to change the coil do you think that's what it is? Please help

Engine running rough or misfiring can be cause by the following-inspect and test all the following below:
1. Defective spark plug.
2. Inadequate spark/coil, defective spark plug wire.
3. Lack of compression
4. False air leakage.
5. Faulty fuel injectors.
6. Insufficient fuel pressure.
7. Contaminated fuel.
8. EGR valve that is leaking.
9. Oxygen sensors.
10. Throttle position sensor.
