1999 Hyundai accent 200, 00 Kms. Car felt sluggish when first accelerated and did not want to switch into 3rd or 4th gear. Stop to check the transmission fluid level and was normal. Restarted the car and the car ran fine for a couple of minutes, then I felt a small jerk and it started to run back the same way. Felt like I drove all the way home in second gear. About 15 minutes of driving the check engine light appeared. I don't know what is going on.

I have a 1997 accent that also has the check engine light on (and has for about a week after I bought it, lucky me), and I'm ninety percent sure it's the transmission in my case, as well. My car has only actually gotten stuck in second gear once, although this seems to me that sort of thing that can be fixed for a solid 10,000m just by squirting WD-40 someplace you'd never think of (I know practically nothing about cars, that's just my experience).

Question- is your car a bit louder than it should be? Mine is, and I'm wondering if that's transmission related as well.
