I have a 2001 hyundai elantra 2.0 with a 103,000 miles when you have the car in park or neutral it keeps revving up to around 3 rpms and then goes back down to 1 over and over until you put it in gear and we had it put on a computer and it said it was the idle control sensor so we replace that and the plugs and wires and it still does it any ideas? Thanks

HI mine did that and it was the IDLE SPEED MOTOR.I bought one on ebay, otherwise they r expensive. If the motor shaft cannot go in and out, it can STICK. Causing the car to rev up like your foot is on the gas. You can test the motor by removing it. Hook it up to your 12 volt battery. See if the plunger goes in and out. Moist likely, you have a bad motor. Good luck

Hi
you are welcome. The car ENGINE is not bad, the IDLE motor is bad I think. Its a small motor mounted on side of throttle body. After that big black flex hose that comes from the air filter. The idle motor is expensive. Maybe around $100 but a junk yard should have one. Only two bolts hold it on. Its about 2 inches in height. Good luck!
