Hyundai Coup 1.6 S. I have an intermitten problem where the engine races. This can happen anytime, e.G. From cold or even when egine is hot. It's noticed when you slow daown or come to a halt and engage the clutch and the car engine races. You either have to switich off or move on. Potentially this is quite dangerous. Its still under warraty but the garage say the fault isn't showing up on the computer and they can not locate it. Can you help? Some one says it might be the throttle position sensor

Many thanks

Hi:
Yes, it could be the TPS, but without a code, you can't be sure. If the dealer can't fix it, (and I do agree it is dangerous), you need to contact the Hyundai rep for your area. Let him know the problem is dangerous and they can't fix it. I'm sure the rep will put pressure on them to determine the problem.
