Engine Mechanical problem
1999 Other Hyundai Models 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a problem with the oil light comming on all the time. I have changed the oil and filter, and the oil pressure switch, and was also told to flush out the motor with deisel, which I did before I replaced the oil. It makes a whinging niose when the engine is warmed up and thats when the oil light comes on. I'm running out of options, as mechanics around here do not know what else it could be.
Any ideas will be muchly appreicated.

Regards Annette

Hi Annette,

Looks like you need to check the oil pump and sump strainer.

Hi jonno2,

You mean the oil pump is providing pressure and the oil pressure light is still showing? Oil sump has been removed to check the oil strainer?

Before this happened, did you do any repairs on the engine?

When engine is running, are the rockers being lubricated?

A whining noise might be oil not providing lubrication.

Thanks for your help, you have given us more ideas on what to do. We also found black built up oil under the rocket cover which maybe the problem.
Thanks for all your help

Hi jonno2,

You are welcomed.

Most probably engine oil treatment had been used in this engine causing the sludge build up.

Oil passages are now clogged, you have a big problem on hand.
