My husbands car takes anywhere from 1 to 8 seconds to accelerate when the car is first started, sometimes no issue at all, and the gas is pushed. There's no popping or grabbing when it does start to finally go but it only happens when it's first started and has no issues while being driven. What could it be?

Is the check engine light on or has it come on while it is doing this? If so have the PCM scanned for any codes it may have stored. It could be any number of sensors causing this. Also might need to check fuel pressure if no engine light is on
