Where do I hook a obd1 scanner to retrieve transmission fault codes?

You will find that vehicle has two ports. The engine controller access is under the hood that looks like the attached image, it's on the left side inner fender. Then there is the main data bus connection that also has the transmission controller on it that one should be under the dash on the left side it also has 6 pins but in 2 parallel lines like the third image.

Just keep in mind that those codes are only the engine codes, not the transmission codes.
