Hi

I found out there some oil are being leak at the base of a spark plugs. I need to replace a valve cover gasket set. Can someone guide me through step by step how to change a valve cover gasket? What kinds of tools and any precaution I need to know before working on the engine? The engine type are 2.2L, 16 valve f22a1 non vtech.

Thanks

Hi there

For this engine if it is straight forward valve cover gasket leakage, then it is not a problem to replace.

You only need a 10mm box spanner to replace it. Remove the valve cover after removing the 4pcs 10 mm chrome nuts. Take the valve cover out and replace the gasket and plug seals. Apply some gasket sealant to the 4 corners of the gasket and you are ready to reverse the installation.

However if the rocker carrier seals needs to be replaced, then you need to remove the rocker carrier which consists of 12 mm bolts. You also need to do valve adjustment after installation.
