Shaking of steering wheel

Hello, we have a 1997 Honda, 130,000 the steering wheel shakes when you are going slow when you speed up the shake is not there. Also, the speedometer still registers 16 when you are stopped. We recently bought this car, any idea on how much mileage they can reach, what is common?

The speedometer sounds like the unit itself is faulty. If you tap it does it go back to zero?

The wheel shaking if severe or otherwise is due to balance. The tires and rims, what are the condition of them. Take a look at the back side. Was the car sitting for a while? There could be a lot of dirt built up on the rim causing the balance issue. If not, get the tires balanced.
