2002 Honda Odyssey open door registering

I just purchased this vehicle and have experienced this issue. The drivers door registers on the display as being open, when it is not. We have to turn the lights inside the car off manually so we are not driving with crazy lights on inside the car. However, this also seems to affect the honda original alarm system. The system will not arm through the remote? All other buttons work except for the arm button? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi randiemac,

Check the driver door switch for shorting or damage. When the door is closed the switch is not being activated and it could be due to door adjustment as well.
Manually pust the switch to check if the indicator light goes off.
This would affect the alarm as the system is thinking the door is not closed.
