Electrical problem
2003 Honda CRV 4 cyl Four Wheel Drive Automatic

I NEED TO CHANGE MY ALTERNATOR IN MY 2003 HONDA CR-V. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS?
I HAVE CHANGED ALTERNATORS ON OLDER CARS IN THE PAST, BUT THIS LOOKS MORE COMPLICATED.

DO YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVE TO DISCHARGE THE A/C TO GET TO THE ALTERNATOR?

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!

THANKS!

Hi jeislo355,

There is no need to discharge the AC.

If you have done other types of alternator replacement, this is not much of a difference.

The serpentine belt requires some skill to reinstall so make sure you have the layout marked.

The tensioner is spring loaded and self adjusted so you need to turn against the spring to be able to remove the belt.
