Tranny trials

The car That I have a question about is a 2007 Honda Civic lx that my friend has. I don't know the engine. It is an automatic. 1500 miles It is making a shifting noise when he is going from park to Drive. I'll quote him:

"Whenever I put my gear into drive and let it roll by the idle(giving no gas) I hear a grind noise for a split second.

I found out it happens more on a hill when the car's front is facing down.

Now that I really listen to it. Its more of a scrape then a grind. I dont think its a grind then u would be able to feel the grind within the car right?I think its just a scraping noise. I mean is something stuck I doubt it cuz then the noise would be repetitive. Its juss P>D(let it roll)*Scrape* then drive is normal."

Is this a normal noise. It's a new car and he is just unsure if it's normal or not.

I've looked all over the web and all I have been able to find is torq converters noises.

Any info you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Welcome to 2carpros

Maybe its being caused by the brakes, if it was me I'll bring her in to be in the safe side. It should be still under warranty or whatever.
